Introduction
According to the legislation, foreign workers from non-EU countries living in Cyprus must be registered to GESY and insured with Transportation of Mortal Remains insurance policy through their employer, which is also an employer’s obligation towards its employees. The insurance policy certificate is a prerequisite for registering or renewing a work permit.
Employer’s Liability insurance is also necessary for the registration or renewal of the work permit.
The Transportation of Mortal Remains insurance policy, which covers the cost of transporting the Mortal Remains to the foreign worker’s country and accidental death, is sufficient for the registration of the foreign worker, but for the period until the registration is made in the GESY, the foreigner is not insured in the event of an incident related to his health or an accident.
Our recommendation is that a Foreigner’s Health Insurance policy with In-hospital and Out-hospital care should be taken out instead of a Transportation of Mortal Remains insurance policy.
The contract is addressed
To employers of foreign workers or domestic workers from countries that are not members of the European Union.
To foreign students and visitors for the development of professional work, where medical insurance is required to secure their residence permit.
Basic Coverages
It covers all the provisions of the legislation that are necessary to be granted a residence and work permit in the Republic of Cyprus. Coverage is offered in two parts, in-patient and out-patient care. A plan with only in-patient coverage is also offered.

Group plan at a special price
The policy is also offered on a group basis (with a minimum number of five people) with even lower premiums.
With an additional premium you can add the Employer’s Liability cover on your policy, which covers the Employer’s legal responsibility for compensation to his employees in relation to death or bodily injury from an accident or occupational disease (which is defined in relevant regulations) caused as a result and during their employment in the employer’s work in Cyprus or abroad (for permanent residents of Cyprus).
The following minimum limits apply (with the possibility of increasing them) that satisfy those provided by the relevant legislation:
